Today’s topic is anticipation, another one of Disney’s 12 Principles. Whenever a character takes an action, believability goes up if there’s a slight movement in the opposite direction beforehand.
These GIFs are adapted from previous Motion Mondays. Here they are with and without anticipation…
It’s a simple touch that adds a lot of life, but I see a lot of animators leave it out. If you work on animation of your own, be sure to keep anticipation in mind!
Thanks for watching, and be sure to join us again… for the next MOTION MONDAY!
It’s Meg for today’s TUTOR TUESDAY! Today we’re going to have some fun with hair! Don’t hesitate to send in a tutorial recommendation either here or to my personal blog for next week! Keep practicing, have fun, and I’ll see you next Tuesday!
I’m running an Introductory Animation Workshop with creative arts students this Saturday (August 20, 2016) for The School of Creative Arts Open Day at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Prahran Campus. I’ve rotoscoped and broken down some of the greatest dance gifs to their basic poses and we’re going to collaboratively design characters then MAKE THEM DANCE!!
Come down, check out the campus and say HI!
I can’t wait to see the weird animated goofs that result from this workshop, I’ll post them in a couple of days so we can all be in awe of their hilarious spontaneity!
Hey friends, Meg here! Welcome to another TUTOR TUESDAY, recommended by the lovely potstickerninja22! Today we take a look at eyes! Remember, I always am open to recommendations for other tutorials. Send them here to to my personal blog! Keep practicing, have fun, and I’ll see you next Tuesday!
Sort of follow up from the hair tutorial yesterday, mixing in a bit of this quick tutorial too. Hopefully this is easy enough to understand one of those things that can change a lot depending on the animation.
i see a “different types of shading” chart pop up on my dash every now and then and while it can be helpful some of the examples don’t really showcase the shading type so well so i wanted to make my own. i mostly stick to cel or painted shading for my art!
i also included the layer effects i used to get the final product to look how it does. also forgot to mention i used the textured brush from the bottom right to blend a little bit of the painted shading!!
