Part 2 will cover Elemaps, Blotmaps, Brushtex, how they work and how to make your own.

Fun fact: The Airbrush is just a soft edge pen tool and is also completely useless

I also meant to include What The Hell Is A Stabilizer and it’s thrilling sequel Oh My God How Did I Ever Live Without This but I ran out of room.

thundercluck-blog:

Hey folks, Paul here for MOTION MONDAY!

Today’s topic is anticipation, another one of Disney’s 12 Principles. Whenever a character takes an action, believability goes up if there’s a slight movement in the opposite direction beforehand.

These GIFs are adapted from previous Motion Mondays. Here they are with and without anticipation…

It’s a simple touch that adds a lot of life, but I see a lot of animators leave it out. If you work on animation of your own, be sure to keep anticipation in mind!

Thanks for watching, and be sure to join us again… for the next MOTION MONDAY!

I’m running an Introductory Animation Workshop with creative arts students this Saturday (August 20, 2016) for The School of Creative Arts Open Day at Melbourne Polytechnics Prahran Campus.
I’ve rotoscoped and broken down some of the greatest dance gifs to their basic poses and we’re going to collaboratively design characters then MAKE THEM DANCE!!

Come down, check out the campus and say HI!

I can’t wait to see the weird animated goofs that result from this workshop, I’ll post them in a couple of days so we can all be in awe of their hilarious spontaneity!

I need this.

spadesart:

i see a “different types of shading” chart pop up on my dash every now and then and while it can be helpful some of the examples don’t really showcase the shading type so well so i wanted to make my own. i mostly stick to cel or painted shading for my art!

i also included the layer effects i used to get the final product to look how it does. also forgot to mention i used the textured brush from the bottom right to blend a little bit of the painted shading!!
